Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, located in the western slope of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, is a stunning national park that showcases some of the steepest cliffs, oldest rock formations, and craggiest spires in North America. Established as a national monument in 1933 and later designated as a national park in 1999, it offers visitors a chance to explore the narrowest and deepest sections of the Gunnison Gorge. With its breathtaking scenery, the park draws over a quarter million visitors each year who come to enjoy the views along both rims, hike the rim trails, or embark on more adventurous hikes below the rim. The park's unique geology and extensive hiking opportunities make it a less crowded alternative to the Grand Canyon, offering a more intimate experience with nature.
